Life is a roller coaster. Only a couple of weeks ago Darien Brown, co-founder and CEO of YongoPal wrote a brutally honest blog post on what the startup did wrong, what they need to change and that he and his co-founder Jon Hickey already were working on a complete reboot of the service.
Today, I learned over Facebook that YongoPal got funding by Dave McClure’s 500 Startups fund and that team YongoPal will move to Mountain View, California.
Darien is currently in South Korea, so there is not much else I can say for now but: congratulations. As you know, I am a big fan of the guys and seeing them succeed makes me truly happy.
As another interesting side note: this is already the third education startup I know of that got funded by Dave McClure, TeachStreet and Udemy being the other two. I think, I have to invite Dave for an interview as his taste in edu 2.0 startups matches mine, obviously.
I will invite team YongoPal for an interview as soon as possible to learn more about the past weeks and months, how the new site will look like and what the next steps as a funded company will be. In the meanwhile:
And as Darien blamed me for last time’s song sticking in his head, here is a new one. Life is a roller coaster, don’t fight it .
