WiZiQ offers Free Premium Accounts to Academic Teachers

There might be no free lunch but for a limited time, until February 28th to be exact, there is a free virtual classroom for academic teachers. Not only for a year but for a lifetime.

All you have to do is sign up with your .edu email account and invite at least 20 other people to join WiZiQ.

Hence WiZiQ is trying to get a foot on the campus through the “backdoor”. As we all know the “deciders” are most of the time far behind reality. Teachers are on the frontlines everyday and are by nature more open to change that helps them to teach better and more effectively.

A good example for this new kind of teachers is the weekly #edchat discussion on Twitter plus all the other different hashtags like #edtech #lrnchat etc. So if I am targetting teachers directly I might have a bigger chance to get heard.

The interesting part of this offer is the in-built viral part. I need to invite at least 20 of my colleagues to get the free account. And as we know, connected consumership is the new black when it comes to marketing. I will also talk about this in my Twitter series but think about it. You are far more open to a suggestion of a person in your personal network than a message from WiZiQ directly, right?

This message about the offer goes to people who already signed up to WiZiQ, hence to people who potentially know the product, used it and are hopefully happy with it. Those people are on the one hand independent educators like me, who don’t apply to this offer and most likely already paid for the membership and on the other hand academic teachers who have a regular income and who are not on the “hunt” for students to make money, so there is no reason for them to pay for a premium membership.

If those academic teachers now get  the chance to apply for a free premium account simply by spreading the word about the product they use, it is probable that the teachers who are contacted take at least a look at WiZiQ. Some will even sign up and try it out, some will spread the word to get a free account and so on and so furth.

In the end, if enough academic teachers are using the classroom it might come to the point where a university will decide to implement the WiZiQ classroom.

I think a worthwhile attempt to spread the word of WiZiQ amongst US universities especially in a time where the Department of Education is working on new methods to rebuild the educational system for the 21st century.

Hence, if you are an academic teacher sign up for a free WiZiQ account, try the classroom and if you like it, what I am pretty sure of, spread the word amongst your colleagues.
