Since, online education are very much easy to access and to avail the different educational course program because the only main requirements that are needed are the computer gadgets and internet connection. With the convenience of online learning, it also offers an affordable educational expenditure rate compare to the campus based schools and for that, it allows individuals who came from a family of low income learners to forego their higher educational learning.
www.sangambayard-c-m.com

They are not simple, that's the problem :).

1. By caring and adding value.
2. Same as above.
3. For companies only customer relation but with a twist also advertising.
4. The number of followers is not important.
5. Two words: Real Time.

If done right I think it is worth the effort. The thing is that Twitter is far more complex than it seems.

Kirsten,

I do not use twitter so my questions may seem rather simple.
1. How can twitter be used to acquire customers?
2. How can twitter be used to retain customers?
3. Would you call twitter a form of advertising or a form of customer relations?
4. How much time/effort does it take for a business to handle 1,000 followers?
5. What is it that twitter can uniquely do that a company can't do with e-mails and a blog (for customer relations) and targeted advertising (for advertising)?

My question, as a person totally unfamiliar with Twitter, is; is it worth the effort? Maybe what we are seeing is a general recognition from language companies that Twitter is not worth the effort.

Kirsten,
I would be very interested in your suggestions for making the best use of twitter. For italki so far, its largely been a matter of trial & error. We roughly try to stick to the 80/20 value rule but it doesn't always work out. A couple of the main people who manage the italki twitter account have been out of the office for the last week or more, hence the fewer tweets recently. I look forward to your next post regarding twitter!

Thank you for the inside Jagdeep :)

May I ask what use of Twitter works for you? Do you actually convert Twitter traffic to lets say Premium memberships, user registrations or sign up to classes?

Our main account @WiZiQ was initially using twitterfeed also to tweet classes, tutorials, etc. We stopped using twitterfeed as some topics were not relevant to a big part of the audience and we decided to set up various community specific accounts to cater to topical audiences and feed those with twitterfeed, in addition to subject specific tweets. We have a good around 15 dedicated accounts for WiZiQ (see the background graphic on the @WiZiQ account) and a couple of associated ones and we are learning from our activity.

So don't you worry Kirsten. You can ask that birdie to tuck that bag right back in the wardrobe; she's not going anywhere :-) . Twitter is still open and here to stay in online education.

Jagdeep Singh Pannu
@WiZiQ
