One Year eduFire – Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday! One year eduFire – time really flies.

So let me give you my  personal review of the past year with eduFire and my wishes for the year(s) to come.

eduFire is about service. I had a really great year with eduFire. Right from the beginning there were the great community managers Valerie N and Stephanie Sims who immediately take you by the hand and show you the platform. In less than two days you will be able to attend an orientation course in which you will learn how to use all the different features of the platform and the virtual classroom. You can even have a private one on one session to ask all your questions.

eduFire is about the truly awesome community. As helpful as the staff and so dedicated to the platform. One of eduFire’s big achievements of the past year.

Then you cannot say eduFire without Jon Bischke. This guy really rocks (no, I am not getting paid for this). If you have the chance to see one of his presentations on eduFire, you will know what I mean. But basically you can say eduFire is all about the teachers. There are so many talented guys on this platform like Koichi, Marco, … and all the others.

eduFire is about variety. It is really amazing what you can learn there. From gaming jargon to cooking, from meditation to languages. You can spend weeks there learning stuff you always wanted to learn or never knew you wanted to learn.

eduFire is about #educhange and networking. There was a great series of sessions called the EduConference where teachers and industry leaders met to present and discuss projects. I had the honor to give a presentation about “Turning Teachers into Rockstars”. I am looking forward to the new conferences this year. Always inspriring.

eduFire is about Guerilla. No, they are not recruiting hundreds of teachers to overthrow the system, at least not yet. But they are using their community to spread the word about the platform with Guerilla Marketing tactics. eduFire and the staff are heavy Twitter users and there are always games to win free classes. They are also using social networks like facebook to spread the news about classes.

eduFire is about doing good things. In the past year eduFire donated thousands of dollars to organisations that make a difference in people’s lives through education.

All in all eduFire is  the most proactive platform out there. And I guess, we ain’t seen nothing yet. The guys just moved into their new office in SF and are looking for some interns during summer. A great opportunity to “learn a ton”. I totally agree!

What are my hopes and wishes for them… Well, I wish them a good turn from their free classes, which are working well on a regular basis, towards more paid classes. Would be great for both, teachers and eduFire. Otherwise don’t lose your drive along the way. You did a great job in the last year and with your dedication to change the world into something better I can only see a brighter future for all of us.

Thank you eduFire. I will have a glas on you tonight!
