No Free Lunch Part X – English Attack! will launch with Subscription Model

News from Parisian start up English Attack!. Apparently the beta test went quite well for the entertainment based English language learning platform and the team received some good feedback on the product.

In a recent newsletter which is linked at the end of this post you can also see some sneak peak pictures of two new games and learn something about the user mix of the platform. But to me the fact that English Attack! is planning to go premium in September for the official launch is even more interesting.

There will still be a basic free version of the service but to get access to all the exercises and features of the service you will need to pay a monthly fee.

Back in March when I met Frédéric Tibout for a first EDUKWEST interview the business model was still a freemium model but I think that changed during the Seedcamp in Paris where English Attack! was a finalist and as you can imagine I am very happy about this decision.

The team set up a small poll where they ask their users what would be a reasonable monthly price, an unreasonable price and a price that would look too cheap. My answers were 9, 19 and 7 Euro.

As a premium subscriber you will get at least 4 Video Booster / Photo Vocab exercises per day and of course there are also new features in the making.

I will probably be in Paris this month so I think I will try to get an update from Paul and Frédéric on English Attack! and visit them in their new office, if they are not on holiday like most of France ;) .

Nice article Kirsten. I was wondering when we would see something from these guys. Their hype machine has certainly been in overdrive. I was beginning to wonder when the products would follow. :)

As the English Attack! learning method is build around Hollywood block busters and music I think it was the right choice to make some Lady GaGa hype ;) .

Well, I am really glad that they chose the premium model as I liked the product idea from the beginning and found it too good to be given away for free :) .

Well that makes sense then. I love the pay model too. We can't going on doing stuff for free…
