Today WiZiQ and italki both announced some very interesting new features to their websites which will be very helpful for teachers who are using those platforms.
WiZiQ is enlarging the possibilities for teachers to monetize on the content they deliver and italki adds some long awaited features like lesson packages to their service which I will cover in a second post.
Let us have a look on WiZiQ first. A couple of weeks ago WiZiQ introduced Courses to their Premium Members, allowing teachers to build courses based on different content and sell them to the WiZiQ community.
Today Harman Singh, Founder and CEO of WiZiQ posted a presentation on the WiZiQ community forum showing some really great new features.
New Classes Interface on WiZiQ

Important points for me:
- Attendees have to pay upfront to enter the class
- Change the date and time of a class
- Set a price for the recording of the class and control the access
It’s a great deal for the peace of mind of the teacher if students can only enter a class after they actually paid for it. This will build up confidence and I think it will help WiZiQ to get more teachers setting up more paid classes.
Changing the date and time of a class is not an absolute top priority but it will make the handling much smoother. Everyone has to reschedule from time to time so having this feature is really nice.
Last point is awesome. I am a big fan of monetization models for content and having the opportunity to put a price tag on all content I produce is a major feature to me. This way you can earn money in different ways from every single piece of content you create. Sell the live class, sell the recording for a bit less as it is not interactive and later on make the video part of a course.
All in all I am very happy with the way WiZiQ brings itself into position for 2010 and I am looking forward to use this platform for a couple of projects I will launch from January onwards. For me some really great Christmas presents!
